Next, the student will be placed in a differentiated group for Small Group Instruction (SGI) and independent work according to the Reading Street program.
Groups will meet for 20 minutes.
Students in an ICS/ESL class will meet with their teacher daily. During this time, the teacher will implement district interventions or English acquisition instruction virtually (My Sidewalks, Sonday, etc.). Independent work will be assigned as homework for completion.
Note: Students in a bilingual program will be provided 45 minutes of ESL instruction, and students in an ESL Only program will be provided up to 90 minutes of ESL instruction.
Some students will meet with their teacher while others complete independent work posted on Google Classroom. Independent assignments will have a due date, and teacher feedback can be expected. Students who are not working in a small group can also utilize resources such as MyOn. The remaining time will be used for independent work and teacher feedback via Google Classroom. |

The student, along with a virtual group, will discuss their observations and fill out the Google Doc/ Google Slides lab sheets. ● The student will use various resources such as Flipgrid, Padlet, and SeeSaw to communicate findings. ● During this time, teachers will monitor small groups and provide feedback. 1:50-2:00pm ● The student will recap the experiment/activity. Each group presenter will share their findings to the whole group. The student will look back at See, Think, Wonder Chart to see if they have discovered the answers to the questions. Then, the student will watch the end of the experiment as a whole group to discuss results. Reading Lesson 10:15 - 10:35 am Whole Group: This is the teacher-directed portion of the lesson where the teacher uses Zoom or Google Meet for a live lesson: ● Students will complete a Do Now (5 min.) while attendance is taken ● The teacher will introduce the objective, and students receive direct instruction in reading comprehension, analysis of literature and/or literary elements, and text features. ● The students will receive directions for their independent or group tasks and how these assignments will be assessed. ● Resources will be provided by the teacher in Google Classroom 10:35 - 10:55 am Small-Group/Independent Practice: Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom with the assessment measure. ● Students should complete tasks in Google Drive and submit in Google Classroom ● Assignments will allow students to practice a skill in reading based on core novels, activities in Shmoop, reading from the Holt McDougal text, activities tied to book clubs/literature circles, or guided reading. ● Students will have access to Shmoop and the Holt McDougal text using their Clever accounts ● Students in an ESL class will meet with their teacher daily. During this time, the teacher will implement instruction for English Language Learners that are virtual to support their English Language acquisition.
